* ask meaningful research questions;
* understand effective research strategies;
* evaluate the results of your research and revise as needed;
* describe your research process and results;
* use information mindfully and ethically.
Coursework
All assignments will be posted online at the class wiki. We will use Blackboard for grading only.
At the end of the quarter you will hand in a portfolio consisting of ALL of your in-class and at-home work for this class. Start saving your work now! The purpose of the portfolio is to help you synthesize the material we will cover and help you prepare for the final exam.
No late work will be accepted. Exceptions: illness (with a note from a medical professional), a death in the family, or by agreement with me BEFORE the due date. However, on-time assignments may always be revised for an improved grade.
Class participation: This includes coming to class on time and actively participating in class activities. Please turn off all cell phones when entering the classroom; cell phone disruption will not be tolerated.
You are expected to know and abide by the section on Academic Dishonesty in the 2006-2007 University Catalog.
